For over three centuries, the perfume capital of Kannauj has practiced a distillation method that remains unchanged: raw copper stills called deg are sealed with clay, heated by wood fire, and connected to a receiving vessel (bhapka) through bamboo pipes. No high-pressure machinery. No synthetic accelerators. Only the patient separation of vapour from botanical — a process that takes days, not hours.
We work directly with fourth-generation distillers who still read the temperature by the sound of bubbling water. The result is an attar that retains the full spectral complexity of the raw flower — a depth that no modern extraction can replicate.
